Dustin Bookatz is a South African-born composer, producer and instrumentalist from Sydney, Australia. In 2012 he moved to New York City with indie folk band Wim, on the back of their self-titled album, released on Modular Records. 

 

In 2016 Dustin released a solo EP co-produced by Malcolm Burn (Emmylou Harris, Iggy Pop) and moved to Los Angeles. Since then he has toured and recorded with artists including Pearl Charles, Michael Rault, Andy Clockwise, Fascinator, EJ Worland, Desure and Hero Fisher. As a studio musician he has worked with producers such as Bob Clearmountain (Bruce Springsteen, Roxy Music), Steve Addabbo (Bob Dylan, Susan Vega), Nicholas Vernhes (Dirty Projectors, Bjork), Lewis Pesacov (Best Coast),  Brad Spence & Charlie Russell (Jamiroquai, Morrissey) and Hector Castillo (Phillip Glass).

 

Dustin's recordings have been placed on shows such as 'Ellen',  'Extra', 'The Jennifer Hudson Show', 'Teen Titans Go!', 'The Real', 'Judge Mathis' and digital productions including 'Lady Parts with Sarah Hyland'. He wrote the theme song for the award winning podcast 'The Night’s Watch' (2020) and has produced jingles for Wangki Radio, based in Fitzroy Crossing, Western Australia. Dustin is currently working on a score for the full-length silent movie Tess of the Storm Country (1914) as part of the Mary Pickford Foundation's 'Modernizing the Classics' series.
